I am a computer programmer, and for many years I have worked entirely in the world of Microsoft tools. I have a lot of experience with large third party applications and in my early days I was an Oracle Wiz. However, all of the custom, “From scratch”, development I do is in Microsoft, Windows Forms and MVC3 for the web. Along the way, I have written a lot of applications for my personal use, during lunch breaks or remoting in to my work computers. I have always wanted a way to do this sort of tinkering on my home computer, but Microsoft tools are way too expensive. With MVC3, I have had to master JavaScript, and that has inspired me to learn more free open source methods of coding. After some research, Python seems to fit my philosophy the best. I am hoping to get some Django applications up and running in this shared hosting environment. I plan to use this blog to chronicle my efforts and serve as a self reference.
